Come join the zen monkey project for a unique approach to intensive dance training. For over 10 years, the Zen Monkey Project has been continuously exploring the boundaries of somatic movement education and contemporary dance forms. Our style is rigorous, experimental and alive. We invite you to investigate and embody your own working process, learn with a diverse group of artists, and share your experience with others.
Overview of SchedulingWe will open the intensive at Floorspace at 5pm on Sunday June 24th. Throughout the Intensive, class will typically begin at 9:00am and run until 5:30pm each day with evenings devoted to optional rehearsals and other special events. Sunday, July 1st, will be a day off. On Friday, July 6th, participants and faculty will offer an evening performance open to the public. We will close the intensive at noon on Saturday July 7th. History |
Each day, dense in delicious experiences, was really about connecting. I found myself sometimes translating, digesting, opening and finding, and sometimes shifting, laughing, playing and organizing. I was completely engaged by the diversity of the group of participants - artists, students, teachers, improvisors, performers. The way that we listened and felt throughout the day always invited more conversations after class. The pacing and intensity, being both flexible and driven by a schedule, really lived in the background. Lori Teague, MFA
